RINGCAT (BASSARISK) : Also called Monga. Bassarisk tails have a texture similar to squirrel tails, with hair up to 2" long. Each tail carries alternate white and very dark brown bands of hair. A very useful material.

RACCOON : The natural mobility of raccoon hair has convinced many salmon fly tyers ! Keep the under-fur to obtain a very nice dubbing (see "natural dubbings" chapter). Mask hair are naturally shiny, in various colors from cream to black. Tail hair, naturally shiny, are longer, yet thin and mobile (colors: grey, beige and brown).

ARCTIC FOX : Long very fine mobile hair, up to 2" long. It moves like marabou but is much stronger. Superb quality for specialist dressings. Body zonker strips are absolutely superb: long hair (2" - 3" - 5 to 7 cm), very mobile in water. Tail zonker strips are thicker.

SILVER FOX (WINTER) : Fur much more thicker than the summer fur, in white/cream/grey shades. This very soft fur gives a fabulous dubbing for nymphs, especialy mayflies nymphs.

SKUNK : Long black and white hair. Straight material, used for tube flies and some salmon patterns (wings). Tail hair is very long (4" - 6-" 10 to 15 cm!), cream from the base to the middle, then dark brown to the top. Excellent for saltwater flies!

SNOWSHOE : The snowshoe is the snow rabbit. Leg hair, transluscent and bright, is used accross the Atlantic to tie emergers. Hair from under the legs provides an excellent dubbing.
