WOODCOCK : Chest feathers are used to tye caddis wings and wet flies. Wing feathers are used for wet flies wings.

JACKDAW : Wing quills are used for black caddis wings or black thoraxes. Grey scalp feathers are tied to imitate nymph legs (throats).

CONDOR SUBSTITUTE : Condor fibers are used to tie nymph's bodies, dry flies and small wet flies. Resistant, these fibers add a webby stripe when used to ring bodies. As real condor is unobtainable, this is of course a substitute.

JAY : The barred blue coverts are used for Invicta hackles and for some sea-trout and salmon patterns. The flight quills give a nice dark grey winging material (bwo, pale morning dun...).

GOOSE : Goose quills (stiff fibers) are used for large quill-winged dries, for nymph cases or for little nymph bodies. Goose shoulders are primarily used for married wings on salmon flies. Goose biots (stripped goose) are mostly used for legs, perfect nymph "V" tails and antennae (stone fly nymphs).
