All the feathers of this chapter come from official hatcheries and are thus totally legal; we have all the necessary certificates ("C.I.T.E.S.") allowing to sell them.
If you are not familiar with the use of such feathers, you might be shocked by their prices.
They are expensive not only because of their rareness, but also because the certificates and customs fees may cost up to 22 € for a single feather!
Please bear in mind that the Euro-Fly team absolutely refuses to import feathers of wild and protected birds such as blue chatterer, indian crow, cock of the rock...
MACAW :
Macaw's real feathers, traditionally used by Atlantic salmon fly tiers.
Blue wing fibers can also be used to tie amazing little nymph's bodies.
Totally legal operation.

SWAN :
Superb feathers, much sought after by Atlantic salmon fly tiers.
The fibers of the wing quills are more than 5 cm long, those of the shoulder quills are extra-slim.
These are real feathers, not substitute (totally legal operation).

EMPEYAN MONAL :
Also known as Himalayan Monal.
Metallic-looking body feathers.
Very, very beautiful materials with changing colors following the light.

ARGUS PHEASANT :
Definitely the most beautiful feathers in the world!

GREY PHEASANT PEACOCK :
These rare feathers are grey with black dots and a large and amazing metallic eye at the tip (between green and blue according to the light!)
Back and wing feathers have one eye; tails feathers have two.
These tie stunning Atlantic Salmon flies.

REEVES PHEASANT :
Back and collar feathers are similar to Amherst pheasant, but in golden copper tones. Shoulder feathers are white, edged with a black and a brown stripe. Wing quills are a nice mix of dark brown, brown and reddish, with white spots.
RED HERON :
These neck feathers are much sought after by Atlantic Salmon Fly tiers as they offer a long and beautiful topping.
Color: beige/brown. Beautiful long herls great for tails.
Come in bags of 3 feathers of 3 different sizes (small, medium and large).
JUNGLE COCK:
Legal jungle cock capes.
Five grades available.
Super grade is exhibition quality (very scarce).
Grade A, also called grade 1, is suitable for tying show flies.
Grade B can be used for most tying, both show and fishing flies.
Grades C and D, the cheapest, must be reserved for fishing flies.
Tie with the real thing instead of bad substitutes!

KINGFISHER :
Beautiful feathers, with an amazing blue.
Great for sea-trout patterns and full dressed salmon flies (substitute of Blue Chatterer feathers).
Chinese imported (totally legal operation).

KENYA CRESTED GUINEA FOWL :
Beautiful black feathers with regular blueish spots.
Mostly used in full dressed salmon flies.
Thanks to their finer stem and overall size, they are a very pleasant material.
Totally legal operation.
SWENHOE :
Known by only a few Atlantic salmon flies tyers, these rare feathers are very difficult to obtain.
Pure black, with a metallic green edge or a metallic blue edge.
Great for cheeks.
As all our rare feathers, our stock is unfortunately limited (totally legal operation).
TEMMINICK'S TRAGOPAN PHEASANT :
The Temminick's Tragopan pheasant is one of the most attractive pheasants available (mostly used by salmon fly tyers for wings and cheeks).
Back feathers provide a little grey eye, black ringed, with brick red fibers.
Flank feathers offer a big grey eye, ringed by rusty fibers.
We use wing quills for caddis wings (brown and fawn).

VULTURINE GUINEA FOWL :
Some of the most sought-after feathers by Atlantic salmon fly tiers.
Neck feathers are dark grey, with a white central bar and beautiful purple edges (these feathers are the only way to tie the famous "Elver Fly", perhaps the best salmon fly!).
Wing quills are very dark grey with white bars and one purple edge.
Breast feathers provide a beautiful cobalt blue.

BLACK PEACOCK :
Natural shiny metallic black wing quills from the Black Peacock.
Excellent substitute for bustard quills.
Totally legal operation. Limited supply.
BLUE-EARED PHEASANT :
No substitute for Great Blue Heron comes nearer!
These long, grey feathers are very mobile, a must for the Spey fly tyer.
Used also for Atlantic salmon flies (throat).
The tail feather (limited supply!) provides incredibly long (8") and thin black herls.

PTARMIGAN (LAGOPEDE) :
The ptarmigan belongs to the family of lagopeds (like the grouse).
Its winter plumage is interesting because it is completely white, except of a few tail under-feathers which are black and lined with white.
BLUE CHATTERER SUBSTITUTE :
It is strictly forbidden to sell or use Blue Chatterer.
Here is an excellent substitute which offers beautiful colors, from dark blue to turquoise blue, with a Macaw blue.
